Presidency Messages

To Our Dear Sisters,

It has been several months now since out wards and worlds have become one. It has been wonderful to have so many at church on Sunday and hear everyone's testimonies. We are all still trying to learn everyone's name and hoping that each of us are feeling more at home!

There have been more changes lately as the new Ministering routes, partners and sisters have been altered. We are hoping that these changes have been well received. Please let us know if there are any problems or concerns, we will be happy to help with any problems. That ls what Relief Society is all about. Caring for each other!

While reading this week a story came to mind that we would like to share with you. Lori Gardner Child is a favorite writer and she shares this memory: ”As I was waiting in another long line at the post office last week, I was privileged to observe a sweet exchange between a man and his daughter. She must have been about five years old. It was obvious that the man was shipping some die-cast cars. He carefully picked out a box that would fit them, while his little one repeatedly asked if she could help. Each time she asked, he would respond, 'Of course' or, 'Yes, I really need your help with this!' He patiently showed her what to do to put the box together and encouraged her in each step. She helped tape the box with mangled pieces of packaging tape and helped tape the label on crookedly. While she was rolling a car in newspaper, he carefully smoothed more tape over the mangled pieces so they wouldn't get caught in a machine. He then showed her how to place the cars in. the box and how to pack around them. Then she proudly stepped in line, holding the box. Of course he could've packed the box in a fraction of the time without help, but he took the opportunity to teach and encourage her, and in return, she became more confident and felt pride in her work.

In this ever-changing world, we are constantly learning new things. Sometimes, we have things that we want to learn, and those can be exciting. But other times, we are forced to learn difficult lessons. We are taping up boxes, if you will, that we don't know how to put together. Some are taping up boxes of losing a loved one. Some are taping boxes of divorce or job loss or receiving a difficult medical diagnosis. Sometimes, we are hanging on by nothing but a mangled piece of tape. We don't know how to tape up that box. 1bis is where the rest of us come in. We can encourage and uplift. We can help by smoothing over those mangled pieces by offering support, suggestions, or just a shoulder to cry on. If you are the one who is forced to tape up a new box, remember that there is always help, love, and support around you. One day, you'll step up in line, having conquered that box, and you'll be amazed at what you've accomplished."

We so appreciate the love, service and dedication that our Ministering Sisters share every day! You are amazing and serve so willingly. You are called to minister by the Lord and you are doing His work to watch over His sheep. We could not do it by ourselves! In D & C 76:3-6 it says, "His purposes fail not, neither are there any who can stay His hand From eternity to eternity He is the same ... I, the Lord, am merciful and gracious unto those who love Me, and delight to honor those who serve Me in righteousness and in truth unto the end."

We are here for you! Between us there are lifetimes of hard things and there are sisters all around you who have ''been there", who are waiting to help. The magic happens when you share your neem with those who minister to you or one of the presidency. We are reaching out to each of you, offering what we have, know, and can do, to help you through difficult times. Let us be the answer to your prayers. The Lord has called us to serve you, let us be His hands.
